Our goal is to make it easy for you to buy a new computer or a component for your profession software such as Fusion 360 and blender, and to save you time, money and a lot of confusions in the process.
As you probably know by now, looking for the right hardware for your professional software is not an easy task and can be really daunting. In fact, most of us were having this problem and we were asking the same question for years… what do I need to buy?!
I’m sure some of you (if not most of you) are going to find yourself in this story, so here we go…
TesReg‘s journey started some time ago when I decided that it’s time to buy a new computer because my old one wasn’t good enough for what I was working on anymore. So the first question I was asking my self, What do I need to buy?
Just as a side note – I can tell you that, I have around 20 years of experience in the IT industry around my belt, and my hardware knowledge is above average!
Even with all my knowledge and experience, I had to search the internet to look for information, that will help me to buy the hardware that I needed.
I searched on YouTube, but I couldn’t find anything useful. I checked the software manufacturer website, but I only found the min. requirements – not really useful as well. I asked in various forums and I can tell you that people really wanted to help, but their answer was subjective. I knew that their design and builds are not like mine, so that didn’t help as I hoped.
But I didn’t give up, I knew there has to be a way to solve this problem or at least a better way to get much closer to the answer. So I decided to break down the main question “What do I need to buy?“:
- Laptop or Desktop?
- What hardware component my software is mainly using, CPU, GPU or both (system requirements)?
- Where can I find a CPU benchmark?
- Where can I find a GPU benchmark?
- Does it support hyperthreading?
- How much RAM do I need?
- What else am I going to use the computer for?
- Last but not least, What is my Budget?!
Unfortunately, those questions led to more questions…
– What CPU platform to go for? AMD or Intel
– What Graphics card to buy? Gaming, professional
– What Graphics card chipset? AMD, NVidia
– What Graphics Card manufacture should I buy? AMD, Asus, ATI, EVGA, Zotac, Gigabyte… and the list goes on.
At that point, I had to follow my guts and hope for the best. Luckily, my budget was pretty flexible, so I decided to buy parts which I thought would give me the performance I was looking for, even though there was a good chance those parts might be way more than I needed.
I looked back on my experience and all the knowledge that I got from experience and slowly TesReg started to form up.
But there is one thing, that makes this platform a success for everyone – The more people will register their test results, the more valuable and precise the data will be.
Please, if you have any question or a suggestion, don’t be shy and let us know. We take your feedback very seriously!
Thank you for your support.
