Hi.

Can anyone point me in the direction where I can learn out to transfer the face sections of a boat hull onto a sheet, so that I can have it laser cut out on plywood? As shown in the attached picture.

Kind regards, Andrew

Hey @@andybro,

Unfortunately, it's not possible to flatten a curved body in F360. There is only one plugin that can do that, but it's not cheap.

sheet metal it's another option, but it has many limitations!

But if you have flat surfaces, then there is a free add-on that can help you with that.

Cheers.

@benk Hi! Many thanks for your Youtube videos - they have been very useful, and it was those that brought me here.

What exactly are the limitations of using sheet metal for such a thing as this? Though I guess a boat hull is quite far from the standard sheet metal manufacturing techniques.
I got very surprised (and a bit sad...) when I learned that Fusion 360 doesn't include working with developable surfaces.

I found a tutorial on YouTube that seems to show that this can be done using MeshMixer by AutoDesk, which is free to download and use. I haven't tried it yet but will report back if I have any success.
