I am designing my own aircraft on Fusion 360 and I've created the three view sketches, but when I go to sweep as you do in the video, I'm constantly getting errors. I've attached the file for you to check it out and would really appreciate some help!

Thanks in advance,

Will

Hey @tunna95,

Okay... there are a few things you need to work on:

  1. Before you start, you need to think about what are you going to do with the model? 3D Print? CNC cutting? etc. Each end goal will affect how you would design your model.
  2. R.U.L.E #1, you must create a component for every part and remember to activate the respected component when working on it.
  3. You also need to create a separate sketch for each part; Fuselage, Wings, Tail, Elevator, etc. (that depends on point #1)

If you are interested, I also do 1:1 training, we can build your model together and use your model for the training.

We could also do a Zoom meeting to get to know each other and you could tell me about your goals with Fusion 360.

What do you think about it?

@benk

Thank you for the reply. The end goal is to create a fuselage plug and take molds to make a carbon fibre shell. (

I’m building a new ultralight design, which is fully designed on paper (old school) but I wanted to start experimenting with CAD as I’ve always built from paper designs. Not necessarily interested in taking virtual lessons as just exploring it on my own time. But your lessons have helped.

Did you spot the mistake I was making when I was going to sweep the model? I understand the points about the components being separate, most will apart from fuselage and vertical tail.

@tunna95

Something is wrong with the video!

I'm using this screeenrecorder: https://screencast-o-matic.com/screen-recorder, Just show me what are you trying to do.

@tunna95,

Well, as you can see in the video, he built/modeled each part separately, and then he connected everything together.

How much experience do you have with Fusion 360? I can teach you how to build this airplane, but it can take a bit of time, depends on how much experience you have with F360.

P.s

I have two other students and they are both pilots 😊

I'm a pilot as well 😉
